What is BAM?
We like to say that GLDS solutions are “crowd-sourced” where our customers are the ones that decide what we build as well as how and when we build it. Our annual meet-up is your opportunity to be part of that “crowd.” At our BroadHub Annual Meetup (BAM!) event you’ll learn what’s changed over the last year, and hear what we have planned in the years ahead. That’s where you come in. We look to our users to validate our development direction, and to tell us what we should be working on.
Who Should Attend BAM?
BAM! is designed to communicate, to teach and to provide a forum for discussion with GLDS, and with industry peers. Anyone who would like to participate in that kind of dialog is welcome to attend.
That said, we most commonly see billing system managers, general managers, billing analysts, and other similar positions. Generally speaking, if you have any influence over, or are a material user of, GLDS products you should be here.
Power Users – We have a special, add-on session for you
Are you struggling with the challenges of operating a large MSO? Then this intensive workshop is for you. We’ll start with lunch together at 11:30 on Monday, and then share ideas on best practices for Power Users like you, in operations similar to yours. We’ll spend three hours in a round-table meeting where you can discuss your top priority topics – with GLDS and with one another. Don’t worry, we’ll be done in plenty of time for the Welcome Reception Monday night. The Power User session is available at an additional expense and is intended for experienced WinCable or BroadHub users only – no newbies please.
This session is available at an additional expense (choose “BAM w/Power User” when registering) and we’ll start with lunch at the Sheraton. Please do not book travel assuming you’ve been enrolled in this session until you’ve heard from us explicitly confirming your participation.
Reporting Enthusiasts – We have a special, add-on session for you
Need hands-on report writing training? In conjunction with BAM, we’re offering a day-long report-writing workshop on Monday. Restricted to just 7 operators – one student per operator, you’ll spend the day in a GLDS training room with business intelligence specialists, Eric Cotting, and Angela Bombard. We’ll bring an outline of advanced reporting topics, but we recommend that you help shape the topics with your ideas for this special session. We’ll teach you but the day is designed to get your questions answered and show you how and where to get the data you need.
This session is available at an additional expense (choose “BAM w/Reporting Enthusiast” when registering) and an in-office lunch will be served. Please do not book travel assuming you’ve been enrolled in this session until you’ve heard from us explicitly confirming your participation.
When is BAM?
The event will be held the week of May 8-11, 2017 with specific events starting on the 8th and other events ending May 11th. The core of the event starts with a welcome reception on the 8th and ends on Thursday with a final group dinner. We’re working on a schedule and will publish it as soon as its available – likely February, 2017.
Where is BAM?
Our hometown, Carlsbad, California. We’re returning to the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. With beautiful, contemporary, Mediterranean architecture, rolling lawns, and panoramic ocean views, the hotel offers wireless Internet, full-service business center, a boutique spa and fitness center. GLDS has arranged for coastal view rooms for all attendees.
GLDS Users’ Group attendees will receive special room rates at $165 per night inclusive of resort fees, parking and unlimited Internet for single and double occupancy. To book now, visit the Sheraton’s GLDS BAM!17 booking site or call +1 760-827-2400 and say, “I’m with GLDS!” when making your reservation.
Why attend BAM?
Because BAM is your single best opportunity to hear the latest in platform and industry strategy as well as get hands-on training on new features. You’ll network with other experienced operators, an experience most consider invaluable. You’ll hear about what’s changed in WinCable and BroadHub and help shape future development. Yes, you’ll still have time to enjoy the San Diego area – Those who have attended in the past can attest to the fact that we make sure you have a good time.
What else do you need to know?
Airline & Ground Transportation
The conference hotel is located in Carlsbad, CA about 30 miles north of the San Diego airport (SAN). Shuttle service to the Sheraton is available from the airport for $33 each way, and can be booked at SuperShuttle.com. Be sure to mention you’re staying at the Sheraton Carlsbad for the special rate. Our favorite way of getting around lately is Uber which will get you to the hotel for about $45 – more or less depending on the time of day. If you’d prefer a car, they’ve got plenty of options. During the conference, transportation to and from meals, activities and off-site sessions will be provided.
All meals and activities during the event are included in the registration price. Monday’s Power User session also includes lunch. Breakfast will be catered on the patio outside our meeting rooms each day of the event.
All Work and No Play… is out of the question! So, after we’ve completed each day’s sessions, we’ll do the town together. You’ll get to sample some of the best local cuisine and rub shoulders with the GLDS staff, network with other BroadHub users, and rest your brain (temporarily). What could be better?
What to Wear
Expect a casual, comfortable experience and dress accordingly. Bring a jacket or sweater – this is spring, not summer and we’ll be at or near water many times during the event – it could be cold. Please dress warmly. You can get an idea of average temperatures here.
