Three Features Your New Billing System Needs

As a broadband company, you rely on your billing system to keep your doors open. After all, you need to have some means to collect the revenue you’re due. From time to time, particularly as technology evolves, you should take a good hard look at this fundamental business tool to determine whether it continues to satisfy your company’s needs. After you’ve done your due diligence and finally decide the time has come for an upgrade to your billing solution, here are three characteristics you should look for in a new system:

  • Efficiency. It can be hard to keep track of all of your invoices. After all, your customers are all billed at different rates and have different packages. When it comes to your cable billing solution, you need one that is intuitive and easy to use. At the end of the day, you want software that helps increase your business’s productivity—not hamper it.
  • Flexibility. Your business needs can change in the blink of an eye. As such, you shouldn’t opt for a new billing solution that restricts you. Rather, you should find one that liberates you and gives you options. Look for flexible solutions that allow you to customize billing deliver, thereby giving you greater control over your operations.
  • Compliant. Are you familiar with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS)? The standards are a set of security protocols that companies that process credit card payments are encouraged to abide by to protect sensitive cardholder information. While not mandated by law, PCI compliance is highly recommended. If a noncompliant business were hacked and sensitive data stolen, for example, significant fines—up to and including the loss of the merchant account altogether—could result. So find a solution that is PCI-compliant so as to avoid those possible undesirable outcomes.
