GLDS Teams With Huawei for Billing and Subscriber Management for Broadband Service Providers

Integrates GLDS WinCable Billing Software with the World’s Largest Telecom Equipment Manufacturer – Kenya Service Provider First to Deploy

ORLANDO, Fla. (SCTE Cable-Tec Expo®) – Oct. 17, 2012 Great Lakes Data Systems, Inc. (GLDS), the leading provider of billing, subscriber management and provisioning systems for small-to-medium global broadband providers, today announced it has completed integration between its WinCable® subscriber management and billing system and Huawei’s U2000 NMS. The combined solution is being deployed for Wananchi Group in Kenya, and will offer complete service delivery control of voice, video and data services, directly from the billing system. Huawei is the world’s leading ICT solutions provider with operations in more than 140 countries. With the new billing system integration, GLDS will minimize revenue loss significantly and ensure better customer satisfaction. Direct provisioning, which the billing system provides, will allow operators to manage ‘triple-play’ service delivery more efficiently, eliminating the need for multiple disparate systems. This will allow operators to manage their Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) network without any additional mediation or provisioning layers.

Commenting on the partnership, Huawei Kenya Representative office CEO Mr. Wind Li said, “Huawei is honored with this strategic partnership with GLDS being the very first integration of our solutions. This will help reduce operational cost significantly allowing fast and easy deployment of Huawei FTTx GPON solution for fixed broadband services in Kenya, through which customer user experience can be enhanced by up to 100mbps to home speeds on fiber access networks.”

“Given the importance of FTTX within traditional and new video markets, and the predominance of Huawei’s products and solutions in both, we understood the strategic importance of completing this integration,” said GLDS’ President Garrick Russell. “A popular choice among FTTH providers, GLDS has invested considerable resources to ensure we provide our customers with efficient, cost-effective ways of managing fiber-based service delivery, and we’re proud to be working with the world’s largest and most well-respected ICT solutions provider to expand our footprint into new markets.”

With proven interfaces with more than 70 partner companies across all service verticals, GLDS provides small to medium-sized operators with tier-one functionality at much lower prices than its tier-one competitors. Solutions from GLDS include both stand-alone and cloud-based billing, subscriber management, field management and provisioning software.
