Wananchi Group Chooses GLDS as Exclusive Provider of Billing & Provisioning Solutions

CARLSBAD, Calif. – May 7, 2010 – Great Lakes Data Systems, Inc. (GLDS) announced today that Wananchi Group of Nairobi Kenya has selected GLDS as its exclusive provider of billing, subscriber management and provisioning solutions. GLDS has entered into a multi-year agreement with Wananchi, a leading East African media and telecommunications company specializing in pay television and high speed internet services for Kenya and Tanzania. Wananchi is working to become Kenya’s first triple play service provider.

GLDS’s WinCable, the leading billing and service provisioning platform among small to medium-sized broadband service providers worldwide, offers the tools necessary to effectively manage digital video, voice over internet protocol (VoIP), high speed internet and more. WinCable is cost effective, enabling broadband service providers to save an average of 50% every year over solutions from major service bureaus.

Wananchi will leverage a powerful combination of GLDS solutions to deploy triple play services to its growing base of 30,000 subscribers. Products include WinCable® for enterprise billing and subscriber management, SuperController™ for provisioning, Service Provisioning Gateway (SPG) for automated data and voice provisioning, CableAnytime for web-based customer self care, GLDS’ Audio Response Unit for telephone-based self care, WinVoIP for call detail record billing, and WinPay for payment processing. GLDS will enable Wananchi to manage pre-paid voice, video and data offerings as they are deployed.

Mr. Euan Fannell, CEO of Wananchi Group, commented: “Wananchi is delivering a new level of connectivity and content to meet rising consumer and business demand across East Africa. We researched multiple billing and service delivery solutions and providers to find the one that would best enable us to serve our customers. GLDS was able to provide all of the functionality we required at a fraction of the cost. Their team is highly responsive and has delivered on all of their commitments.”

Mr. Garrick Russell, Vice President at GLDS, commented: “Wananchi Group gave us a sweeping set of functional requirements. We were able to meet their immediate needs and will continue to support them as they roll out additional services. GLDS is thrilled to be a part of Wananchi’s pioneering effort to become the first provider of triple play services for East Africa.”
