GLDS Continues to Push Forward with Cloud-based Billing and Subscriber Management

More Than 80 Operators Worldwide Have Adopted BroadHub in the Cloud to Save Significant Time and Money

Carlsbad, Calif. – Oct. 18, 2011Great Lakes Data Systems, Inc. (GLDS), the leading provider of billing, subscriber management and provisioning systems for small-to-medium global broadband providers, today announced that its BroadHub® in the Cloud solution has been adopted by more than 80 operators worldwide.   BroadHub is GLDS’ flagship, stand-alone subscriber management and billing system preferred by operators with 300 to 300,000 subscribers.

BroadHub in the Cloud lets service providers use BroadHub virtually via the Internet, without the need for any hardware or infrastructure investment.  It only requires a thin client installed on each operator’s workstation and an Internet connection, allowing service providers instant access to the BroadHub feature-rich, end-to-end billing and subscriber management system, anytime, anywhere.  Remote workers can access BroadHub from a simple browser.

“BroadHub in the Cloud is rapidly growing in popularity among our customers because it offers a low start-up cost, it’s easy to use and gives them full anytime access to BroadHub from the convenience of a virtual cloud-based session.  This makes it an excellent choice for smaller systems, or for larger ones looking for cost-effective ways of managing their business systems,” said GLDS’ President Garrick Russell.   “GLDS provides and maintains all related hardware, all system maintenance, back-ups, restores, PPV loads, and all system upgrades, allowing service providers to focus on meeting the needs of their subscribers and running their business, without having to manage and maintain a billing system.”

Savage Communications Inc. (SCI), a triple-play broadband operator with 5,500 subscribers in 30 rural communities throughout east central and northern Minnesota, has been using GLDS’ BroadHub stand-alone product for five years.  Having recently transitioned to BroadHub in the Cloud, Savage’s IT Manager Patrick Hilke commented, “GLDS did a great job with transitioning us to their cloud-based platform.  Better still, I recently ran a Customer Summary report.  While it used to take more than an hour on our old server, it only took four minutes to complete the report on the new, hosted solution.”

The cloud-based platform gives broadband service providers anytime-access to GLDS’ high performing, end-to-end BroadHub billing and subscriber management system and SuperControllerTM provisioning solution, with all needed modules; redundant power supplies, backed up by natural gas generators that ensure zero downtime; nightly backups replicated to an off-site location ensuring no lost data; and fully redundant fiber optic connections with automatic cut-over for maximum up-time.
